The Proaudio chain. In this section, we will first show you the basic chain flow. Where it starts and where it ends. ![]() The proaudio chain starts with the Signal Sources like “miked” acoustic instruments, direct connected electric/electronic instuments or “miked” instruments combo amps or speaker cabs, microphones, source players like cd players and turntables. The proaudio chain second stage are Preamps. Preamps found in mixing consoles and mic pre's accepts low level signals from signal sources ( usually mics and electric musical instruments like electric guitars ) and/or source players ( most media players has built in preamps ). The preamp then coverts this low level signals into a more stronger line level signals. The proaudio chain third stage are Signal Processors. Signal processors are used to change the audio signal's dynamic, imaging, timbre and decay. The proaudio chain fourth stage are Power Amplifiers. Power amplifiers converts line level audio signals into a much more stronger signals that drives the last stage in the proaudio chain which are... The proaudio chain fifth and final stage are the Loudspeakers. Loudspeakers converts processed electronic audio signal back to acoustic signals. What connects this stages together to make the proaudio chain are the cables and interconnects.
